Hydroxsys appoints Chris Macbeth as CEO

Kiwi-owned cleantech company Hydroxsys has appointed Chris Macbeth as CEO, effective 20 March 2022, Hydroxsys board chair Andrew Reding announced last week.

Macbeth replaces Hyrdoxsys co-founder Mark Hartstone, who is stepping down but remains with Hydroxsys as an advisor to the incoming CEO and board of directors.

A 30-year veteran of the dairy industry, Macbeth most recently held the position of CEO at NIG Nutritionals, a New Zealand manufacturer of goat milk-based nutrition products.

His earlier roles include both domestic and offshore positions with Fonterra (NZ and USA), Bega (Australia) and Miraka (NZ).

During his time at Fonterra, Macbeth led the global cheese and protein portfolio, a $USD3.5bn business unit spearheading strategic and commercial initiatives across the Fonterra group.

“The board is delighted to have Chris at the helm of Hydroxsys,” Reding said. “He is a seasoned CEO with a commercial record tested and proven over 30 years in food processing and international business.

“I’d also like to acknowledge departing CEO Mark’s vision and commitment to developing our business and introducing next-generation membrane filtration technology to the world,” he said.

Macbeth is no stranger to sustainable industrial wastewater management and recycling. At NIG Nutritionals he oversaw the trial of a bespoke Hydroxsys membrane filtration solution that captured close to 90% of the company’s milk processing wastewater, returning it as a source of clean water.

His customer-side input led to an advisory role with Hydroxsys and a minor shareholding in the company.
