One of the big issues with waste management in the fisheries industry is bacteria management and infrastructure fouling and equipment required due to high chemical treatment of waste.

Project goals:

• To reduce bacteria to 0% pass-through rate

• Reduce the amount of pipe fouling, holding tanks and spray nozzles required

Results:

• 99% TSS reduction

• 45% BOD reduction

• 45% COD reduction

• Smaller reductions in total nitrogen

• 100% reduction in fecal coliforms E.coli and listeria in the waste stream

• No bacteria pass-through

• No more pipe fouling

• Full scale system payback estimated after 2 years
